Max Verstappen Speaks Out On Red Bull Future Amid Mercedes And Possibly Even Aston Martin Interest In Formula 1 After 2025

Max Verstappen’s future in Formula 1 beyond 2025 is becoming a topic of increasing interest amid a potential tug-of-war over him between Red Bull and Mercedes, and possibly even Aston Martin.

The Dutch driver currently holds a contract with Red Bull Racing until 2028, but rival teams are already eyeing his signature.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has previously expressed interest in signing Verstappen, whilst Aston Martin presents another potential option.

The latter could offer Verstappen the opportunity to continue working with Honda and Adrian Newey.

Despite the speculation, Red Bull are keen to retain their star driver beyond his current contract, setting the stage for a potential bidding war in the coming years.

Verstappen is aware of the options available to him come 2026, but he’s not dwelling on them at present.

Speaking to Motorsport.com, he said, “Yes, of course, I know it’s possible, but I’m not really thinking about it right now.”

This statement underscores the Dutchman’s focus on the immediate future rather than long-term career moves.

The reigning world champion’s priority lies with the current season’s challenges.

With six Grands Prix remaining, Verstappen is keen to maintain his lead over Lando Norris in the championship standings.

Verstappen’s immediate focus on the current season demonstrates his commitment to Red Bull and his competitive drive.

With six races left in the 2023 calendar, the Dutch driver is determined to maintain his championship lead over Lando Norris.

This short-term perspective aligns with Verstappen’s pragmatic approach to his career.

He told Motorsport.com, “At the moment I am not really thinking about it too much, to be honest.”

By prioritising his current performance, Verstappen is not only securing his position in this year’s championship but also potentially strengthening his bargaining power for future contract negotiations.

Verstappen’s relaxed attitude towards his future in Formula 1 is evident in his final remarks to Motorsport.com.

He stated, “If it doesn’t happen, then so be it. It won’t change my life.

This perspective suggests that while Verstappen is aware of his value in the sport, he’s not overly concerned about securing a specific team or contract beyond 2025.

The three-time world champion’s focus remains firmly on his current performance and success with Red Bull.

As the 2023 season enters its final stages, Verstappen’s priority is clear: maintain his championship lead and potentially secure another title.
