Tony Estanguet – French Canoeist Condemns Imane Khelif’s “DISDAIN” Of The Olympics After She Criticised 2024 Officials

French canoeist Tony Estanguet, who is also the head of the organizing committee for the 2024 Paris Olympics, has openly criticized Algerian boxer Imane Khelif for her recent remarks against the event’s officials. Khelif, known for her outspoken nature, had expressed discontent with certain decisions made by the committee, describing them as “unfair” and questioning their ability to manage the prestigious event.

Estanguet, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and a strong advocate for the values of the Games, did not hold back in his response. He condemned Khelif’s comments as a sign of “disdain” for the Olympics and accused her of undermining the spirit of sportsmanship. In a public statement, Estanguet emphasized the hard work and dedication of the 2024 officials, stating that their efforts reflect the integrity and unity the Olympics represent.

“This kind of attitude goes against everything the Olympic Games stand for,” Estanguet remarked. “The Games are about bringing people together, celebrating human potential, and overcoming differences through sports. To criticize the officials, who are working tirelessly to make Paris 2024 a success, shows a lack of respect for the athletes and the event itself.”

Imane Khelif had previously raised concerns over the selection processes and event management, pointing out what she believed to be inconsistencies and favoritism. While her comments resonated with some athletes, they sparked outrage among others, particularly in the French sports community.

Estanguet, who has been a key figure in the organization of the Paris 2024 Olympics, urged athletes to focus on their preparation and avoid letting negativity distract them from their goals. He concluded by reiterating his belief in the importance of unity and fair play as the world looks forward to the Paris Games.

As tensions rise in the lead-up to the 2024 Olympics, the clash between Estanguet and Khelif highlights the complex dynamics between athletes and event organizers, with both sides standing firm in their views on how the Games should be managed and celebrated.
