Jorge Martin recently opened up about the controversial pitlane decision he made during the San Marino MotoGP race, which left fans and commentators baffled. After appearing to be in strong contention for a podium finish, Martin made the choice to switch to a wet-weather setup as light rain began to fall.
However, this turned out to be a costly mistake as the rain quickly subsided, and Martin, along with several other riders, had to return to the pitlane to revert back to their original setups. This decision dropped Martin to 15th place, significantly harming his championship standing.
Martin later revealed that the decision was made due to a combination of factors, including a misjudgment in the timing of the rain and a misunderstanding about how heavy the rain would become. Footage from the race shows Martin expressing frustration over the radio, famously exclaiming, “What the f***!” after realizing the pitlane decision had cost him any chance of victory.
