Hall of Fame promoter discusses Daniel Dubois’ next fight plans amid Anthony Joshua v Tyson Fury speculation after Saturday night’s Wembley Stadium showdown

Frank Warren will not stand in the way of an all-British superfight between Daniel Dubois and Tyson Fury – even if it would be ‘awkward’ to see two top heavyweights face off.

Dubois, 27, successfully defended his IBF heavyweight title by knocking out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium.

‘Dynamite’ upset the odds and threw plans for a Joshua vs Fury fight into disarray with a right hand that knocked out ‘AJ’. Fury will face pound-for-pound king Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch on December 21 and Dubois wants the winner.

Warren, who promotes Dubois and Fury, said: “I will tell you straight up that I would be in a very, very difficult position to do that fight. I would struggle with it. If they want it and the business demands it, that’s up to them.

“It’s not something I want to push. If there’s an offer that makes sense and they want to do it, that’s up to them.”

Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh had big plans for Joshua to face Fury next year, regardless of whether the Gypsy King beat Usyk or not. Alalshikh’s ideal scenario would be for Fury to beat Usyk for the WBA, WBC and WBO belts and Joshua to beat Dubois for the IBF title, all of which would make for an undisputed British showdown.

But Dubois has now thrown a wrench in the works, even as Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn claims there is still a chance for his fighter to fight Fury.

Hall-of-faith promoter Warren said: “They’re all planning Tyson against AJ and I told them it’s not going to happen. I told them straight up. I’m not stupid. I’ve been doing this for a long time.”

Warren threw two-time champion Joshua, who turns 35 next month, a lifeline by saying they would consider a rematch with Dubois. He added: “I think it’s something to consider. Anything can happen.”
