Anthony Joshua Makes Decision On Boxing Future In Emotional ‘heartbreaking’ Video About His Future In The Sport

Anthony Joshua was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in their heavyweight fight at Wembley on Saturday night, but he has now spoken about his future in the sport

Anthony Joshua insists his career is “not over” following his fifth-round knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Joshua was aiming to become a three-time world champion by winning the IBF world heavyweight title but instead suffered a humiliating defeat – the fourth of his career – after being knocked out in front of a record-breaking 98,128 official crowd.

The 34-year-old was dropped four times by Dubois, including once in the first round, and many called for Joshua to retire afterwards. But Joshua released a video on X on Monday afternoon insisting his boxing journey is not over, with a potential rematch with Dubois as well as another all-British showdown with Tyson Fury in the future.

“We didn’t get there but we have to look at the positives and that’s the perspective we have to have, a positive perspective, always,” he said. “Look at what we’ve achieved in 11 years, it’s incredible and I want to thank each and every one of you who have been with me.

“It’s been a journey of ups and downs, but you know what? It’s not over. We did it once, we did it twice, doing it a third time is not easy but I believe that’s what I can achieve.

“It’s about taking the right steps, working hard, improving and most of all, it has to come from here (the heart). It’s only been one day but I know sitting back, I know I have a lot (of heart), thank you for your support, thank you for being with me on this journey of ups and downs.

“Buckle up because deep down I know we have a lot to give to this fight. British Boxing, I appreciate you and let’s go up and up together.”

Despite vowing to continue fighting, former world champion Carl Froch believes it’s time for Joshua to throw in the towel and hang up his gloves. Froch said on his YouTube channel: “Anthony Joshua has been beaten from head to toe.

“He lacks ambition, he lacks confidence, he lacks self-belief. His recovery is terrible, he looks exhausted. I doubt Anthony Joshua’s desire to stay in the boxing ring anymore. I don’t think AJ wants it anymore, he shouldn’t be boxing.

“That performance was poor. What’s next for AJ? I don’t even know. This could be the last time we see Anthony Joshua. I can’t see a future for Anthony Joshua.”
