Teofimo Lopez has claimed that Gervonta Davis is considering a rematch with Isaac Cruz, whom Davis defeated via unanimous decision in December 2021. Lopez revealed that he had pursued a fight with Cruz but was informed by Cruz’s manager that they were prioritizing a rematch with Davis instead.
Davis, after recently returning to the ring with a knockout victory over Frank Martin following a 14-month hiatus, is also in talks for a potential WBA and IBF lightweight world title unification bout against Vasyl Lomachenko. Lopez indicated that Davis vs. Cruz II could happen soon, given Cruz’s recent acquisition of the WBA super-lightweight title from Rolly Romero in March, enhancing his position for a rematch with Davis.
